Classical Jyotish sorts the 27 Nakshatras into seven types by their nature: Chara, Dhruva, Laghu, Mishra, Mridu, Tikshna and Ugra. The type tells you what kind of work suits each Nakshatra, and it also says something about your own nature.
Seven types, 27 Nakshatras. Each Nakshatra belongs to exactly one type.

Please note: The type is one part of choosing a good time. A full muhurat also looks at the tithi, the weekday, the rising sign and your own chart, and a few classical texts place one or two Nakshatras in a different type. For an important start such as a foundation or Griha Pravesh, book a consultation and we will choose the time together.
