Each of the eight Vastu directions, and the open centre, is ruled by a graha (planet) and a presiding deity.
NE · IshanJupiter (गुरु)
EastSun (सूर्य)
SE · AgneyaVenus (शुक्र)
NorthMercury (बुध)
CentreBrahmasthan
SouthMars (मंगल)
NW · VayavyaMoon (चंद्र)
WestSaturn (शनि)
SW · NairutyaRahu (राहु)
This is the classical Vastu Purusha Mandala. The Brahmasthan at the centre belongs to Brahma himself and carries no single planetary ruler — it should always stay open, light and free of heavy structures or a toilet, since it governs the balance of the whole property.

North
Mercury (Budh)
Kubera
Wealth, cash flow, career growth
North-East
Jupiter (Guru)
Ishana / Shiva
Spirituality, wisdom, prayer & meditation
East
Sun (Surya)
Indra
Health, vitality, new beginnings
A few regional Vastu texts vary this slightly — some assign Ketu (केतु) rather than Brahma to the centre. Simmi's readings follow the mapping above, cross-checked against your actual plot.
♃
North-East · Jupiter (गुरु)
Best for the puja room or a meditation corner. Keep this zone light, uncluttered, and free of heavy furniture or a toilet.
☉
East · Sun (सूर्य)
Ideal for the main entrance and living-room windows, so the home receives the Sun (सूर्य)'s morning vitality directly.

Where to Place the Entrance, Toilet and Puja Room
Once you know which planet rules each direction, the next question is placement. The 32-pada entrance grid, the 16-zone toilet compass and the puja room guide now have their own page.
Want to know exactly how this shows up in your own chart? A Kundli reading maps every one of these classical building blocks against your actual birth details.
