Take this checklist with you to the plot, ideally with a compass and a floor plan. Items marked Important are the ones that matter most in Vastu or in law, so look at them first.

Shape & size

The plot is a square or rectangleEven shapes hold energy evenly. A rectangle up to about 1:2 is comfortable. Very long and narrow plots are hard to balance.

No corner is cut or missing, especially the North-East ImportantA cut North-East is the most serious shape fault. Note every corner that is missing or extends.

The corners are close to 90 degreesSlanting corners cause uneven zones. The South-West corner should be square.

The plot is not triangular, round or wedge-shapedPointed or curved plots leave unusable and unbalanced corners.

Slope & levels

The land slopes down towards the North, North-East or EastWater and energy should drain towards these directions.

The South-West is higher than the North-East ImportantHeavy and high in the South-West, light and low in the North-East.

There are no pits, mounds or sudden level changes, especially in the centreThe centre should stay level and open.

The plot is not lower than the road or neighbouring plotsA low plot collects water and troubles. Raising the level is possible, but plan it before building.

Ticked: 0 of 32

This is a traditional Vastu and practical checklist, not a legal or engineering opinion. Every plot is different, so confirm with a Vastu consultation before you decide.
