How the Vimshottari system works

Vimshottari is a 120-year cycle shared among nine planets. Where the Moon (चंद्र) sits in the zodiac at birth decides which planet’s period you begin with, and how much of it is left. Each Mahadasha then splits into nine Antardashas (sub-periods), starting with the same planet.
